I hear a lot of people give hate on Rodimus because he didn’t live up to Optimus’s legacy, but I think those people miss the point of Hot Rod becoming Rodimus Prime. No, he is not Optimus, but he does not have to be Optimus to be a leader. Ultra Magnus struggled because he tried to lead by Optimus’s example. Hot Rod was worthy of the Matrix of Leadership not because he was as strong as Optimus, or as smart, or as wise as him, but because he shared Optimus’s compassion for others that drove him through his battles. In other words, he has the heart of a leader.
